Manual Frequency Restoration Reserve (mFRR)

The mFRR market, also referred to as emergency power, is one of the balancing markets with which TenneT keeps the electricity grid in balance. At critical times, this contracted power can be called on within a maximum of 15 minutes, so that the grid frequency can be quickly increased or decreased. This power can then be used for a maximum of 4 consecutive hours.

This is how 'flexibility' works on the electricity grid.

Scholt Energy connects several refrigeration and freezer facilities to the balancing markets. This also applies to other industrial processes, such as a thermal salt bath which can provide flexible power.
