Scholt Energy Donatie V1

We would like to thank our loyal customers for contributing to this piece of history. Customer challenges and questions make a major contribution Scholt's product innovations and ever higher level of service. Because of the coronavirus situation, we are not organising a party for our anniversary. Scholt will instead make a larger donation of €10,000 to the Pelicano Foundation. We hope that in this way we'll be helping to give children living in poverty energy for the future. In 2010, we introduced our unique purchasing concept on the Belgian market, whereby spread is applied with fixed (forward market) and variable prices (day market). The energy purchase is also spread over time, resulting in an optimal spread of risk for customers and at the same time a significant price advantage.

"Scholt's purchasing philosophy has remained the same from day one. This endorses the distinctive nature and effectiveness of this philosophy."

Personal contact

In addition to the specific product range, the personal and proactive approach  contributes to a large extent to the strong growth of the customer portfolio. Every customer has a direct point of contact and can also count on proactive service for all energy matters. This total package ensures that customer turnover is exceptionally low. Typical (Belgian) customers of Scholt include BelOrta, Rombouts Koffie, Profel, Cartamundi and Willy Naessens.

Energy transition

The role of Scholt Energy has changed as a result of the energy transition. Whereas in the early years, the focus was mainly on purchasing electricity and gas economically, nowadays the whole energy dossier of a customer is handled. It is important that this is done with a healthy dose of realism. The wishes and possibilities of the customer are paramount. We think in an active and solution-oriented way and are the central point of contact. The latter especially is a major advantage in a market with more and more suppliers.

"We have achieved a lot in ten years in Belgium. There is a stable and very professional organisation that is ready for further growth. We still see a lot of market potential, which is why we are aiming for strong growth in the coming years. This applies to expansion of the customer portfolio and to new supplementary services for existing customers to support them in the energy transition. Naturally, we will maintain the high level of service that customers have come to expect from us."

- Rob van Gennip, CEO

European ambitions

We are also expanding outside Belgium. Scholt is already active in the Netherlands and Germany, and on 1 January 2021 will also begin supplying energy in Austria. Further expansion in Europe is the ambition, but there are currently no concrete plans for the next step. In 2020, we expect to pass the €500 million sales mark.
